Building Friendships Through Tennis: A Story of Lukas and Coach Dave

Inclusive sports programs have the power to bring people together, create bonds, and positively impact lives. Such is the case with Lukas, a participant in our Central Coast Inclusive Tennis Program, and his coach, Dave. The relationship between these two has been nothing short of inspiring, as Lukas's mother, Amanda, explains.

Dave, who is our Head Tennis Coach and a successful athlete in his own right, has been with the program since its establishment in 2020. His passion and dedication to the sport have helped the program grow, and his positive impact on Lukas has been immeasurable. Amanda shares that Lukas felt an instant connection with Dave and has been improving every week under his guidance. The bond they have formed is built on trust and fun, and Lukas doesn't want to "let Dave down" if he can't attend his lesson.

Lukas's growth as a tennis player and as a person has been truly special, according to our Assistant Coach Wendy and Primary Coach James. They've seen Lukas not only improve in his own game but also pass on what he has learned to other students. The friendship between Lukas and Dave has brought them closer together and has been a privilege to watch.

It's remarkable how sports can bring individuals together and encourage each other to be their best. This is why our Inclusive Tennis Program is designed to be inclusive, allowing participants to join at their own pace and not feel rushed into anything. Our program takes place in Gosford Tennis Club on Tuesday evenings for those in the Central Coast and at Blair Athol Racquet Sports Hub on Wednesdays and Saturdays for those in Adelaide. In conclusion, the story of Lukas and Coach Dave highlights the power of sport to bring people together and create meaningful bonds. We hope that this story will inspire others to join our Inclusive Tennis Program and see for themselves the positive impact that sport can have on their lives.
